We’ve been hearing so much buzz about Project Go-Go Boy, the online reality series from porn production company Cocky Boys that we couldn’t ignore it anymore. And since they’ve got some safe-for-work teasers, we don’t have to!

Convicted last year of attempting to murder his estranged girlfriend, Marc Anthony Donais—a.k.a. ex-porn star Ryan Idol—is filing a motion for a new trial this month, citing ineffective assistance of counsel.

If the court grants his motion at his September 21 hearing, Donais, who is still awaiting sentencing, could be freed on bail pending a new trial. If its denied, sentencing will proceed immediately.

Though active in gay porn for only five years, Donais—as Idol—was one of the biggest stars of the 1990s, transforming himself into a brand name with films like Idol Eyes, Idol Country, Idol Thoughts and Idol Worship. He even popped up on Broadway in Joe Mantello’s revival of Terrence McNally’s bathouse comedy, The Ritz. Of his sexuality, Donais said, “I don’t like to label myself. I’d just like to say I’m a loving person. I can love a man and I can love a woman.”

But love didn’t always go smoothly for Donais: In 2009, he was arrested after hitting his ex-girlfriend in the head with a toilet-tank lid during an argument. The 46-year-old testified he acted in self-defense, claiming he believed she had a knife.

“I just hope I can put this whole unfortunate episode behind me and get on with my life,” Donais said today in a written statement. “I’ve made some big mistakes and let myself and others down, but I’m always amazed at how many people remember me and wish me well. My gay fans, in particular, are an amazing source of support and I really appreciate their thoughts and prayers.”

We’ll admit we have thought of you, Ryan Idol. But prayers? Not so much. Just be glad you’re not featured in Chi Chi LaRue’s “epic” Criminal Cocks.

Gay adult film star Josh Weston has passed away at the age of 39.

Porn studio, Hot House, confirmed the sad news via their blog:

Adult Superstar Josh Weston succumbed to HIV-related complications on Sunday, December 16. He was 39 years old.

Weston started his career in 2001 as a Falcon Exclusive, starring some of their biggest hits from the early 2000s.

After leaving that contract went on to work with other studios including Hot House where he headlined our hits Trunks 3 and Communion.

Always warm and friendly and ready to laugh, Josh was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Weston, according to The Sword, was discovered as a dancer in San Francisco by Chi Chi Larue and had starred in over 25 films through the course of his career. He had apparently been working on a memoir entitled Sleeping My Way to the Bottom.

New York saw its third homophobic attack in one week as two men were savagely beaten Friday night by a group of men near Port Authority.

Though the victims were not identified, a Queerty reader tipped us off that one of the men was Lucas Entertainment model and performer Edin Sol.

“I’m still in recovery after this malevolent attack,” Sol told Queerty. “I can’t get over this situation and the fact it still happens. I feel in shock and unsafe going out anymore until someone does something about it.”

According to CBS New York:

At around 5 a.m. Friday, the two men tried to get into an after-hours billiards hall on West 32nd Street but were not let in, police said. They were then approached by a group of approximately five others who proceeded to shout anti-gay slurs and beat the men, police said.

The men tried to get away, but the suspects followed them to the PATH station entrance where the attack continued, police said.

Both Sol and his companion were rushed to the hospital with severe facial injuries and Sol had to undergo eye surgery.

A few days earlier on May 5, Nick Porto and Kevin Atkins were walking arm-in-arm when they were attacked by a group of men near Madison Square Garden after a Knicks playoff game. Another assault took place in Greenwich Village earlier this week.

“There was a time when our city was plagued with hate crimes. We are never going back to that place,” said City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. ”That is not what New York is about.”

Asllan Berisha, 21, and Brian Ramirez, 21, both New York City residents, were arrested and charged with a hate crime, but the other three men fled. The victims asked police to release their photos to enlist the public’s help in finding their attackers.

The streets do not seem to be very safe,” Sol added. “I’m very worried about my friends or anybody else who can get hurt.”

It also helped me avoid innuendo names like Dick Powers or Johnny Thrust. Conner Habib sounded like a real person’s name (and it was!); it’s slightly clumsy, easy enough to remember.”

The joke has always been that a boy must be prepared to sacrifice his sex life in order to work in this specific creative medium. And to a certain degree, this can be true. 

These paintings serve (as much for me as for you) as an exercise in looking at our positive and negative sexual responses to something as simple as makeup. And perhaps what this means on a broader scope. When staring at an image ripe with standard “masculine” sexual triggers, why am I suddenly not as turned on when the “hunk” has a face on? And why, when I cover his face with my thumb am I back to being comfortably aroused? Is it as simple as “masculine is good, feminine is bad?” Perhaps. Perhaps not. However, looking at why we react this way feels very healthy to me. Recognizing that a great deal of misogyney [sic] exists among gay men seems very important as we continue to carve out our cultural identity. Our base sexual triggers and responses, though arguably socially influenced, are deeply engrained. However, acknowledging our gut sexual reactions and asking ‘why?’ might not be the worst thing.
